Nominations are now closed!
After three months of hard work by local societies, specialist groups and members of the public, the opportunity to nominate new sites for review as part of the 2021 Black Country Local Heritage Lists Project closed on 14th February 2022.
Over 900 nominations received!
A sudden rush of nominations towards the deadline meant that, in total, we had over 930 nominations for new sites for the Black Country Local Heritage Lists.
The top type of nominated ‘site’ was historic buildings and structures, but a handful of public artworks, archaeological sites, parklands and geological sites were also included.
We’ll republish an updated version of our interactive map showing all the nominations once all the new suggestions have been logged and collated.
What happens next?
We’re now starting to assess nominations against the draft criteria agreed by the Black Country Local Authorities, and will be reporting our findings back to them so that they can carry out a public consultation later in the year.
Thank you to everyone who has sent us information or comments – Black Country Local Heritage is certainly Bostin!
